When you sign up, we collect your institutional email address (or, for accounts without one, whichever address you register with) to verify your institute, department and degree level, and to attribute the materials you upload. We store the metadata of files you upload (title, category, year, visibility) and the file itself. Basic device and app-usage analytics are collected via Google Analytics to help us understand how the app is used.
Your institutional identity determines which materials you can see and upload to (Department, University, or Public visibility). Uploaded files are shared with other verified users according to the visibility you choose. We process your email and institutional identity because it's necessary to provide the app's core service (a contractual necessity); we process analytics and advertising data based on your consent (see Your Consent Choices) or our legitimate interest in operating and improving the app. We do not sell your personal data, nor do we share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, except as managed through your ad consent choices.
This app shows banner ads served by Google AdMob, mediated in part through Meta Audience Network. Both AdMob/Google and Meta may collect device identifiers and other data to serve and measure ads, subject to the consent choice described below. See Google's privacy policy and Meta's privacy policy for how each of them handles that data.
Depending on your location, you may be shown a consent form (for users in the European Economic Area / UK) or a privacy choices notice (for users in certain US states) before any ads are requested. You can change your choice at any time from within the app, using the "Manage Ad Consent" option on the Privacy Policy screen, where available.
Our servers and storage (including Microsoft Azure Blob Storage) may be located in a different country from yours. If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or elsewhere with data-transfer restrictions, your data may still be processed outside that region; we rely on your consent and/or standard contractual safeguards for that transfer.
A file deleted by a moderator is hidden immediately but kept for 15 days before being permanently removed, in case the deletion needs to be reversed. Moderation activity logs are kept for 30 days. Your account data is kept for as long as your account is active, or until you delete it (see Your Rights below).
Uploaded files are stored on Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. Access to moderation and administrative tools is restricted by role.
EduShare is intended for college/university students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
You may request access to or correction of your personal data by contacting us using the details below. You can delete your account at any time from the app's Profile screen, using the "Delete Account" button. Deleting your account permanently removes your email address and personal account data. To preserve the educational resources you've shared with the community, files you've already contributed are not deleted — they remain on the platform, but are permanently anonymized and disassociated from your identity. Please don't include personal information inside the content of files you upload (e.g. on a cover page), since that stays in the file itself even after your account is deleted.
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to jisangain27@gmail.com.
